Cariboo Rocks The North again this summer

Prince George’s second annual Cariboo Rocks The North music festival will take place Aug. 9 to 11 at Exhibition Park.

Count them … 11 bands over three days, from Trooper to Loverboy with Doug and the Slugs in between. These are the legends of rock with a combined trophy chest stuffed with 27 Platinum Records, 17 Gold Records, and 18 Juno Awards.

Representing two of the principal corporate partners, Glen Mikkelsen, Manager of the CN Centre, and Kyle Sampson, Pacific Western Brewing’s Northern Manager, are helping organize this massive undertaking.

“We’ve had a long, cold winter and now that the temperatures are warming up it’s time to make your plans to be here at Exhibition Park this August for three days of classic rock,” Mikkelsen says. “We’ve got a dynamite lineup. It’s not going to be something you’re going to want to miss.”

Sampson says: “Cariboo Rocks builds on the inaugural festival in 2018 and the stellar reputation of many successful outdoor summer concert parties that PWB held in its parking lot on North Nechako Rd. Moving to the festival format allowed for growth, and for more people in Prince George and the Northern BC Region to enjoy a classic rock concert experience every summer.”

Here’s the lineup: Friday August 9th 2019 – Lee Aaron – 6 p.m., Streetheart – 7:15 p.m., Trooper – 8:30 p.m. Saturday August 10th 2019 – Doug & The Slugs – 3:30 p.m., Sass Jordan – 5 p.m., Chilliwack – 6:40 p.mm, Glass Tiger – 8:30 p.m. Sunday August 11th 2019 – Carole Pope & Rough Trade – 3:30 p.m., Helix – 5 p.m., The Romantics – 6:40 p.m., Loverboy – 8:30 p.m.

It was a shorts and beers kind of day for Kyle Sampson of Pacific Western Brewing, and CN Centre’s Glen Mikkelsen. The pair of classic rock fans took advantage of the warmer temperatures and staked their claim at Exhibition Park nearly five months in advance of the gates opening for the second installation of Cariboo Rocks The North.
