PWB’s summer of fun … ribs to rock

From ribs to rock, Pacific Western Brewing (PWB) is packing a lot of fun into the approaching Prince George summer.

And, PWB is hoping you’ll enjoy the fun even more with the brewery’s expanded lineup of vodka coolers – Blood Orange, Lemon Lime, Raspberry and Grapefruit – and its repackaged Scandal Organic Lager and Ale, now featured in cans.

The fun starts in June when the Rotary Club of Prince George – Nechako teams up with PWB to host Prince George’s first ever Ribfest. The three-day event will feature award winning Ribbers from across Canada to serve up Grade-A barbecue supplemented by a slew of entertainment, additional food vendors, and cool refreshing beverages from Prince George’s Local Brewery. The event will take place June 21 – 23 on the grounds of PWB.

PWB’s Kyle Sampson is the event manager: “Ribs, beer, live entertainment, and all right here in Prince George – it’s a natural fit for PWB to be involved. We’ve been operating here in Prince George since 1957. This is our hometown and we strive to do our part in making this a vibrant community that we can all be proud of. The folks at Nechako Rotary are constantly and tirelessly doing their part to give back, and all of us at PWB are proud to partner with their organization to do just that.”

PWB is also sponsoring Prince George’s second annual ‘Cariboo Rocks the North’ music festival Aug. 9 to 11 at Exhibition Park.

Count them … 11 bands over three days, from Trooper to Loverboy with Doug and the Slugs in between. These are the legends of rock with a combined trophy chest stuffed with 27 Platinum Records, 17 Gold Records, and 18 Juno Awards.

Representing two of the principal corporate partners, Glen Mikkelsen, Manager of the CN Centre, and PWB’s Kyle Sampson are helping organize this massive undertaking.

“We’ve had a long, cold winter and now that the temperatures are warming up it’s time to make your plans to be here at Exhibition Park this August for three days of classic rock,” Mikkelsen says. “We’ve got a dynamite lineup you won’t want to miss.”

Sampson says: “Cariboo Rocks builds on the inaugural festival in 2018 and the stellar reputation of many successful outdoor summer concert parties that PWB held in its parking lot on North Nechako Rd. Moving to the festival format allowed for growth, and for more people in Prince George and the Northern BC Region to enjoy a classic rock concert experience every summer.”

PWB’s Pacific Cool brings new meaning to the word “relax.” Flavoured as lightly as the summer breeze, the Pacific Cool refreshments offer a crisp, clean vodka soda with an essence of flavour … Raspberry, the ever-popular Lemon Lime and, new this spring, Blood Orange and Grapefruit.  Fueled with only 100 Calories, these sodas will be a welcome addition to any summer activity.

Now in cans, Scandal Organic Lager and Ale are exceptionally pure, certified organic beers that are brewed with the world’s finest organic pale malts, organic Bavarian hops and, of course, our own naturally pure spring water. Scandal Lager, from the nose in, has an inviting flavour and a clean, refreshing taste. Scandal Ale’s malty aroma is tempered with a touch of caramel that adds sweetness.
